PACKING
One
of the most crucial decision you have to make
about your move is whether or not to have Crown
do the packing. This means a trained packer
will come to your home at least one to two days
before the moving date. The packer will work
to your specifications, but it is important
to have discussed these with Crown’s sales
staff several days in advance so the correct
materials can be on hand.
Packing
can add considerably to the cost of either
a local or long distance move so it is important
to have these charges included in your written
estimate. Some customers require a full pack,
where every last book or piece of clothing
is placed in containers by Crown. Others need
only certain items packed by Crown, perhaps
things such as electronics, pictures, dishes,
glassware or artwork. Tell your Crown representative
at the time of the written estimate your precise
packing needs so these appear in the written
estimate.
The
other significance of having the moving company
perform packing services is that generally
they then will be responsible for loss and
damage protection. The rule of thumb is; if
the moving company packs an item, it is responsible
for loss and damage protection depending on
the customer’s preferred valuation and/or
insurance selection. If a customer packs an
item, the moving company has no liability.

One
way to cut down on packing costs is for the
customer to pack non-breakables such as clothes,
books, documents. Crown has a full list of
packing supplies available either by delivery
